ON THE NATURE OF REALITY AND TRUTH

What do you mean by ‘real’? , can something that we sense through our five senses be considered real? , is truth and reality the same, or is it all a social construct created by the bourgeoise to suppress the proletariats. So before we entertain ourselves with some fancy conspiracy theory let’s get dive a little bit deeper and dissect the ‘truth’.

The truth we talk of can be divided into three types

  • OBJECTIVE TRUTH

A truth that is independent of a conscious observer, it doesn’t matter if the person exists to affirm that this indeed is truth, it shall remain truth.

For instance, our sun, if there no intelligent life to behold sun it still would exist and it very much shall rise in the east and set in the west for countless ages to come (well, this too is debatable according to the quantum mechanical theory of superposition but anyways let’s ignore this)

  • SUBJECTIVE TRUTH

A truth that depends upon an individual consciousness and a person’s perception for instance if I make a statement “ X is a good person” so if we look into this statement it is quite oblivious because some people may say that X is, in fact, a good person, quite a few might say that X is actually an annoying person, basically a subjective truth depends upon individual’s perception and is oblivious until it strikes a brain

  • INTER-SUBJECTIVE TRUTH

A truth that is common across a very large number of individuals, and they with all of their sanity believe in the truth. God, money, government, etc. all come under this. If I stopped believing in God or government doesn’t necessarily mean that they shall cease to remain true but these truths are purely social constructs if people stopped believing they don’t exist anymore and indeed there are countless examples In history where inter-subjective truths were forced to relinquish their hold among masses in one of those instances a famous some might even say infamous but a very revolutionary Egyptian pharaoh ‘Akhenaten’ who came in power at around 1353 BCE demolished the old religion and created a new one centered on the sun god ‘Aten’.

In modern equivalence, it’s like converting Saudi Arabia into Christianity overnight.

Now, since we are quite familiar with the ‘nature of truths’, let’s talk about an interesting phenomenon which I call “object to subject transformation” to understand this image with me,

You’re in a corridor and you suddenly start to peek into a room through its keyhole after a while there’s a weird sensation that made you feel that you’re being stared at, you look behind and see a man awkwardly looking at you.

Let’s dissect this situation in two parts before being spotted by a stranger and after being spotted

So before you were caught you were acting as an independent entity, who is just curious, without any sense of outside morals, in a true sense you were an object.

But the point you were spotted, you felt embarrassed and ashamed and a drowning feeling of guilt engulfed you, you start to scramble your mind for a believable excuse, you are being judged as we speak so you transformed into a subject.

Where were those feelings before you were caught red-handed, you had no sense of morals or manners, maybe morals do not exist as an objective reality, maybe you can only make a difference between good and evil when you’re subjected to outside forces?

I can even argue you were not the same person before and after getting caught.

Your whole life is actually this situation repeating itself in an infinite loop, you’re constantly being subjected, when you’re at home you are subject of your guardians, when you’re in college you are a subject of college authority and are expected to behave in a certain manner when you’re outside you are subject of a nation and is expected to follow a constitution of that nation.

And you act that way too because you’re a different person when you’re at home, different with friends, different in other circumstances, your identity is not decided by you but by your subjects.

In a nutshell, you are never truly free and you almost never have control of your own faculties most of the time you are just a puppet controlled by invisible strings. Then WHAT is YOU??

Well, that’s an ultimate existential question it’s a pity we can only guess.
